Every day, Woven City runs new experiments in pursuit of the future fabric of life. As the city nears its first anniversary since its official launch, this summer marked a turning point.
Woven City’s first anniversary since its official launch in September 2025 is approaching. This summer, one of the people who has been central to the project stepped back from that role.
The project began with nothing more than desks lined up in an empty space. Daisuke Toyoda, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Woven by Toyota, who had been involved for roughly eight years since the launch, returned to Toyota Motor Corporation this summer.
Ahead of this move, already reported in an earlier episode of Monthly Woven City, SVP Toyoda went to see the colleagues who had walked this journey with him. Savoring the time they'd shared, he made his way around, delivering a few words to each person individually.
SVP Toyoda himself describes the Woven City project as still being in the bottom of the first inning. The things left undone still on his mind, he now entrusts what comes next to his colleagues.
This episode of Monthly Woven City follows a turning point that has arrived for the city as it continues its journey forward.
