Can Small Innovations Change the Earth's Future? Solving Logistics Problems

2024.09.04

Ways of carrying containers, rules about truck-loading, and gathering information with technology... How will steady efficiency improvements change the future?

At the new AEON logistics center, Yuta Tomikawa mentions the Toyota Production System (TPS), where products are being transported to and from destinations. What is the connection between AEON and TPS?

Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies (CJPT) * was established in 2021 to achieve carbon neutrality. Under two flags of logistics efficiency and electrification, CJPT works together with many partners, learning on-site at AEON, and using all their wisdom to implement kaizen of tasks.

*Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies (CJPT) was established by Toyota Motor Corporation, Hino Motors, and Isuzu Motors in April 2021, with Suzuki and Daihatsu joining that July (Hino was expelled in 2022). The partnership aims to accelerate the rollout and adoption of CASE technologies, helping to solve the issues faced by the transportation industry and contributing to the creation of a carbon-neutral society.

In a case where TPS is implemented to enable visualization of packing loads, small karakuri helping to improve load efficiency for workers, reduces the number of trucks, and contributes to carbon neutrality. CJPT President Nakajima (Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Corporation) had this to say:

“I think this is a case of a single task greatly changing the future of the earth.”

CJPT does not limit its activities to TPS. It uses the full range of newest connected technologies to solve logistics issues and make progress toward carbon neutrality. See how far CJPT has come after its founding three years ago and the future it envisions.
