2023.04.14

What was President Sato's message at Toyota's first entrance ceremony under its new leadership team? And what special surprise did the carmaker have in store?

The “coolest” cars, as chosen by new employees

Now for the results, starting with third place.

This spot went to the Supra. As one aspiring car designer commented enthusiastically, “This is the kind of car I want to design.”

Next, second place.

The second-place pick was President Sato’s Lexus LC, which proved a popular backdrop for commemorative photos.

And finally, number one…

That honor goes to Akio’s Century, which was a particular favorite among female employees.

Despite all the talk of young people losing interest in cars, Toyota’s newest employees crowded excitedly around the vehicles on show.

At last year’s entrance ceremony, then-President Toyoda told the incoming cohort that “people gather where joy abounds.” This time around, President Sato’s message was: “The first thing I hope to instill in you is the joy of making cars.”

We look forward to seeing how this wholeheartedly car-loving leadership team, together with Toyota’s young recruits and diverse talent, shapes the future of mobility.
