No More Itchy Eyes!? Inventors × Weavers Create a Pollen-Less Space

2026.05.13

On this episode of Monthly Woven City, we take a look at a demonstration trial by Inventors at Daikin Industries. What inventions will result from kakezan (multiplication) between Inventors and Weavers (Woven City residents)?

Hay fever is said to affect more than 40% of people in Japan. This writer also relies on allergy medication throughout the season.

Many people likely wish they could at least escape pollen inside their own homes.

This edition of “Monthly Woven City” looks at Daikin Industries’ “pollen-less space” demonstration trial as an Inventor. What are the three secrets behind reducing indoor pollen to near zero?

Our guide is Shota Hori from Daikin Industries, a former guest on Toyota Times. One key feature of Woven City is its ability to collect and analyze vast amounts of data from each household. Mr. Hori says he can already feel the difference: “It has made the improvement cycle much faster, really accelerating our R&D.”

Naturally, the cooperation of residents, known as Weavers, is essential. The family featured on this episode takes a positive view: “If we notice anything, we share it with them so things can get even better.”

This is exactly the kind of kakezan Woven City hopes to create between Inventors and Weavers.
