Morizo has come to China. He executed his mission of bringing smiles and increasing the number of car lovers by performing his famous donuts in Shanghai!
The sound of squealing tires reverberates across the venue. Plumes of white smoke rise from the friction between tires and road surface. The crowd cheers at the sight of professional drivers showing off their talents.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival, held in Shanghai in June, was the first ever held in China. Similar events have been held in Thailand and the Philippines, all with the aim of increasing the number of local car fans.
However, Shanghai was in the midst of its rainy season. Despite the forecasted 100% chance of rain, 900 attendees watched Morizo show off his famous donuts. And then, the sunny smiles of the enthralled audience somehow spread to the sky...!
Local professional drivers also impressed the crowd. Even Morizo was thrilled to watch their smoothly coordinated steering skills.
It was a moment of wild enthusiasm shared with fellow car lovers overseas. Looking back to six months before, Morizo shared these thoughts at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
I believe that there are expectations in every country for the automotive industry.
Those expectations are why such passion exists.
On the other hand, in Japan, I feel that instead of having high expectations, people are saying things that make me think maybe they want to let this industry decline.
The path up the carbon neutrality mountain depends on the country and region.
However, isn’t a desire for cars what we all need?
I found out that, overseas, we have many colleagues who have that passionate desire.
This year, as well, I want to search for such colleagues and meet them.
Frankly, being able to meet such colleagues energizes me.
Every time Morizo draws his “donuts,” the circle of smiles grows larger. Surely, they will continue to spread across the world.
