Comedian Ryo Tamura from London Boots came to the Super Taikyu Fuji 24 Hours. In this video, his love of cars becomes clear from the flood of questions he showers on everyone. This fun special episode is one even the newest motorsports fan will enjoy and learn.
Who is that dashing man in his Honda Integra? It’s none other than Ryo Tamura from the comedy duo London Boots 1-go 2-go with his trademark handsome blond hair. What brings him to Toyota Times News?
Ryo’s own YouTube channel is full of his passion for cars, and his dream is to drive all the cars he admired in his youth from the 80s and 90s. He carefully restores, maintains, and drives a car for just six months, then changes it for a different one. The story behind how this car lover wound up appearing on Toyota Times is also a dramatic one. He was talking on his radio program about how his heart had been won by the words of fellow car lover Chairman Akio Toyoda during speeches at the Tokyo Motor Show and Auto Salon. Coincidentally, at that very moment, Chairman Toyoda himself was at the station and peeked into Ryo’s broadcast booth. That meeting resulted in his special appearance on our program this time.
Although Ryo loves cars wholeheartedly, he is inexperienced when it comes to motorsports. Together with his friend of 24 years, Yuta Tomikawa, he enters the world of the Super Taikyu Fuji 24 Hours. Ryo unleashes his boundless curiosity on the engineers, drivers, and Morizo himself.
Ryo wants to learn about the Super Taikyu from the ground up, so he surprises Super Taikyu Mirai Organization Vice Chairperson Harumi Kuwayama with a visit. She explains that it’s focused on amateur drivers, that the unranked ST-Q class is for cars under development to make cars for the future, and other basics of the Super Taikyu.
In the pit of Car #32, which runs on liquid hydrogen, driver Masahiro Sasaki holds a lesson on the liquid hydrogen Corolla. Why is the new liquid hydrogen tank oval-shaped? What is the CO2 development device? See the second half of the program to find out what Ryo finds so interesting!
Lastly, an encounter with Morizo. Ryo, who has recently learned of Morizo’s unexpectedly fast race time, admits his surprise at the time. You should never underestimate Morizo! Ryo explains, “If I’m being honest. I thought it was just your hobby. I saw the time, and it was different (than I expected), and I felt so confused.” The pair share a laugh. Don’t miss this friendly conversation between two car-loving guys!
This episode of Toyota Times News will be a fun watch for everyone, even those who aren’t interested or don’t know much about motorsports. Let’s go on a journey to learn about the Super Taikyu with Ryo Tamura!
